Looking good there Serge. In this picture, it looks like all the braces are different widths and heights. Just wondering if your following a book or plan of some sort. Looks like it will all come out fine though, great progress there Serge. |

Thanks folks! ![]() Clinton, you got a good eye too bud, it's a small log that was cut on the premises where i work! ![]() Carlton, you are so right! i know it looks like i've been very productive but it's just the amount of pics taken over a period of 2-3-4 evenings that does that effect, i'm really building slower than on my first, Speed kills as my bud Ron always say! ![]() Thanks Mike, lookin' forward to see pics of your build also when you get a chance my friend! And Carlton too!!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() Serge |

Wow, Serge, it really looks good. You're going to beat me finishing #2. I still haven't been back in the shop for about a month now. I did get my drill press part finally and I'm almost finished with my granddaughters swing/play set, so hopefully I can get back to building by next weekend. I only use a chisel on my braces too. That spruce is so easy to carve, it's not a problem. I do rough shape the braces on the bandsaw and drill press sander before I glue them in and then final shape with the chisel. You are going to have a real winner this time, Serge. Just go slow and steady and keep your concentration focused on the job at hand. ![]() Ron |

Thanks Ron and Coe! Ron, good idea on the rough shaping on the bandsaw, i'll have to try that out on no 3. I sure am taking my time as you advised and i'm looking forward to hear and see your current build progress pics and the granddaughters swing/play set pics also my friend! ![]() Coe, yeah, the bridge plate is purple heart, i thought it would look neat and no 2 is great for experimenting on things like that! Now, you tickled my curiosity about the binding width, how do you know this? ![]() Serge |

Thanks a lot for the kind words Paul mate! i sure appreciate the fact that the OLF big brothers are helping me a whole lot, the sharing of information along with the tutorials make it a whole different ball game than when i was on my own for the first one. I still make mistakes but i accept it better, must be a line i read on Cumpiano's site that's helping also to be willing to make mistakes and learn from them! ![]() Thanks Serge |

I thought you were gonna ask for my beer drinkin' alien to do the bridge support! ![]() ![]() Tim, Same happened to me, i had to redo most of my jigs, i'm pretty sure that after this one though, that the pace of building will pick up a bit. Looking forward to see yours soon my friend, thanks! ![]() Rich, very true, i'm just happy that the weather wasn't so nice here and it was worth all the hours spent in the shop, when goin' slow, you can enjoy the landscape more right?! ![]() ![]() Serge |
